Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward and assist with the incident, which has marred the festive season for a local man.
The Holden Commodore ute was stolen from a Curlewis address about 10pm Tuesday.
The vehicle was then driven some 20 kilometres away, with Oxley Area Command Acting Inspector Geoff Sharpe confirming police officers attended Wandobah Road at Gunnedah about two hours later.
“The aforementioned vehicle (looked) to be involved in a collision and had been burnt,” Acting Inspector Sharpe said.
“Investigations are continuing into the possibility of who was responsible.”
