The popular games day has been an annual event in Gunnedah for more than five years, with cards, quoits, pool and Kelly pool and Wii sports on the big screen.
The inaugural event was an outing to Waterways Wildlife Park and now the games day is very much anticipated by everyone involved.
Gunnedah Workshop Enterprises manager, Mick Hull, thanked everyone for taking part and Gunnedah Services and Bowling Club for providing the venue and delicious meal for everyone.
“We are very grateful for the club’s support and to their Tooheys reps and Whitehaven Coal for providing sample bags for our participants - they really loved the shirts, water bottles, caps and stubby holders,” Mr Hull said.
“Thanks also go to Ray Gaynor for organising the giveaways.”
IDPwD is a United Nations sanctioned day that is celebrated internationally. It aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability and celebrate their achievements and contributions to their community.
The Australian Government has been supporting IDPwD since 1996 and provides funds to promote and raise awareness of the day around Australia.
International Day of People with a Disability is held on December 3 each year, with the local event held on the closest Friday.
