It is proposed the monument be located near the Lions Club rest stop on the Oxley Highway.
The NVI reported in September how the 2011 council resolved to build a memorial which never eventuated.
Council’s November business paper reported that quotes for concept planning have been sought from a company that specialises in the design of metallic, sculpted road signs similar in style to what is conceptualised for the memorial.
The memorial will be dedicated to the armoured unit whose soldiers camped near Gunnedah in the late 1940s war years.
Councillor and Gunnedah Commemoration of Anzac Working Group chair, Owen Hasler, made cost enquiries about similar monuments as an example of what could be achieved.
He received tentative costings of about $30,000 but said final figures could be vastly different depending on quality achieved.
