Water storage reached new heights this week as the dam level ticked past 98 per cent.
Consistent rainfall in the second half of 2016 had doubled capacity in just two months.
Tamworth and Region Weather reported total water capacity had risen nearly three per cent in a matter of days, up from 95 per cent about this time last week.
WaterNSW spokesman Tony Webber said water inflows have had some effect on capacity. He said a little water surcharge was possible but once maximum levels were reached, the dam will spill.
Keepit park supervisor Renee Moon said “big numbers” have been filing through the gates recently, with an average of 180 day-pass visitors compared to 30-40 just a few months ago.
And it’s not just the locals “coming for a look” either, visitors are travelling from all corners to enjoy Keepit’s plentiful water supply.
