Polo on the Plains is a long lunch due to be held on Sunday as part of the annual Gunnedah Polo Tournament finals and showcased locally-inspired cuisine in a picturesque bush setting.
The event was also set to host an auction in support of the Gunnedah Community Scholarship Fund.
Organisers said they are unable to guarantee the Gunnedah Polo fields will be in a fit state to play on, and therefore have had to regretfully cancel the lunch.
“While we are lucky to have such rich and fertile soil on the Liverpool Plains, it also becomes very sticky when wet and makes access and infrastructure difficult.”
Tickets will be refunded with plans to hold the event next year. The polo itself will still be held Saturday and Sunday but has been moved to the Spring Ridge fields.
