Whilst the water rose to a healthy 35 per cent on the day, it was a bit dirty and the fish were hard to find.
Only three unlucky yellow bellies were caught, with young Jedd Wilman winning the monthly medal and a $100 Mitre 10 voucher sponsored by Tarsh Rutter Quilting from Narrabri.
Jedd landed two fish whilst learning his trade from granddad David Ellis.
Bert Steele was the only other angler on the podium, having gained the biggest yellow belly.
The club is beginning another season and with the water steadily rising in Keepit Dam, club vice-president Kevin Sheridan hopes for another enjoyable season.
The club meets on the second Saturday of each month except for June and July. Newcomers are always welcome to join more than 100 members who already enjoy the relaxing club atmosphere and fishing competitions.
The next competition is from 7am to 4pm on Saturday September 10.
