Students from Gunnedah High School students assisted the primary school in the smooth running of the carnival by helping with supervision and time keeping for events.
All of the students attempted at least one event and some students participated in every event for their age group.
TWO Gunnedah High School students received recognition at the recent NAIDOC Week awards hosted by Winanga-li Aboriginal Child and Family Centre.
Zoe Fleming won sportsperson of the year for demonstrating outstanding sporting achievement in cricket and for her exceptional dedication and sportsmanship qualities.
Brady Herbert won the high school academic achiever of the year for working hard and consistently giving his best at school. A number of other students were also nominated.
The school is attempting a digital-free challenge where four students would choose to have a week without their phones/tablets.
Fourteen senior students recently travelled to the University of Newcastle (UON) with students from St Mary’s College to explore career options and the opportunities provided by tertiary study while getting a taste of university life. The response from all students was very positive.
STUDENTS in group three from rooms 3 -5 at GS Kidd Memorial School started their 'living skills' sessions last week.
The students are given a simple recipe with pictures of the ingredients and instructions to complete as independently as possible.
Prep students at Carinya Christian School have had a busy time being scientists in a "laboratory" set up in the classroom.
The students dressed up in lab coats and safety glasses, ready to take participate in "experiments".
The experiments included making music with water, magnifying containers to make observations, smelling different things in bowls, tasting popcorn and hot chocolate, and floating and magnetic tests.
It was great fun and allowed students to explore their environment using all of their senses.
SOMERTON Public School will hold a Christmas in July sharing lunch tomorrow.
Decorations have been made and are hanging in the classroom and the Christmas tree has been decorated. Secret Santa gifts have been brought in and left under the Christmas tree.
Students and staff are excited and look forward to celebrating with family and friends. Students can dress to a Christmas theme.
