Kalan Southwell and Bailee Crowe were selected in the Tamworth 10 years representative side to play Uralla on Sunday. The pair is also scheduled to play mid north coast outfit, Bellingen, on August 7.
Both play club footy for Gunnedah Bulldogs which this year was entered in the Tamworth junior league to create more competition for players. Every second week they join team-mates in Tamworth for games and play in Gunnedah on alternate weekends.
To strengthen the competition further, a combined Tamworth and district representative side was selected.
Kalan and Bailee played a trial during the school holidays where a group of more than 30 players was whittled down to 22 in a possibles and probables format. From there a final squad of 17 was named.
Balancing club footy with representative team commitments including training hasn’t been easy but both were up for the challenge.
