Maddie Coombs (13) and her brother Brodie (10) improved their personal best times in almost every event.
Competing in the combined 13-14 years 100m backstroke, Maddie shaved 4.16 seconds from her best to finish just out of medal contention. The 200m freestyle proved a happy hunting ground with Maddie finishing third in a strong field after an improvement of 7.03 seconds. The teenager picked up another bronze in the 50m backstroke with an improved time and just missed medals in the 50 and 100m freestyle.
Younger brother Brodie has been working hard in the training lanes and under the guidance of coach Glen Hobson has improved his technique, which resulted in three personal best times from three events. Brodie finished in the top 10 of each event and managed to clip 4.12 seconds from his best in the 50m freestyle.
