The Australian Supermodel has said yes to the marriage proposal from her boyfriend, Snapchat co-founder Evan Spiegel.
The 33-year-old former spokeswoman for Victoria's Secret, who was raised in Gunnedah, couldn't wait to share her big news with her loved ones, including back home in the North West.
The businesswoman and entrepreneur posted a picture on Instagram on Thursday, of the massive diamond ring with the caption “I said yes”. The photo was accompanied by a cartoon version of Kerr and Spiegel, who was down on one knee holding the ring.
Kerr’s many family and friends in Gunnedah are said to be overjoyed by the news after receiving word of the engagement early yesterday morning.
Longtime family friend Judy Middlebrook, who has known the brunette beauty for more than two decades, said she heard of the news via an early morning message from Kerr herself, with Mrs Middlebrook’s family expressing their joy yesterday.
“We think it’s wonderful news, we are all very happy for them – they make a great couple,” Mrs Middlebrook said.
“They are very caring about one another.
“He’s lovely with Flynn (Kerr’s son).”
While she could not be drawn to reveal any details about the proposal or that shiny ring, Mrs Middlebrook said she understood the newly engaged couple were “very happy and excited”.
The confirmed engagement has put an end to weeks of speculation that Spiegel was about to propose to the local beauty.
The loved-up couple reportedly met at a Louis Vuitton dinner in New York City in 2014, although they first stepped out as a couple in June 2015.
This will be the first marriage for Spiegel and the second for Kerr who was married to Hollywood superstar Orlando Bloom, in which they share five-year-old Flynn, however the pair parted ways in 2013.
Kerr shot to fame after she won a modelling competition through Dolly Magazine aged 13, since then she has gone on to work for the largest and most prominent fashion labels in the world, including in her roles with Victoria’s Secret. She has also gone on to create her own organic skin care range.
