Gunnedah Public School, Gunnedah South State School, St Xaviers and Carinya College students all took part in workshops.
The event concluded with a performance at the Civic on Friday featuring Ms Cheetham and the students singing a range of songs.
Short Black Opera is a not-for-profit company that introduces Indigenous adults and children to opera and helps find new singing talent.
Deborah Cheetham is a Yorta Yorta soprano, composer and educator who has performed at concert halls throughout Australia, in the United Kingdom, the United States and New Zealand.
