Youngsters were treated to demonstrations with a fire hose, a ride in the big red truck, while also learning about fire equipment and meeting the town’s firefighters.
This year, Lego came on board by providing activity booklets and mini-figures which proved a big hit with the little ones.
Station Commander Rod Byrnes said the day was a huge success.
“It was a fantastic response,” he said.
“We had a lot of young families come through and the kids had a great day.”
Commander Byrnes said families learnt about general fire safety in the home, including escape plans and new smoke alarms.
Households are being encouraged to replace their outdated alarms with the latest photoelectric ones which provide earlier detection, fewer false alarms and are more accurate.
He said the new Lego set was very popular among the little ones while parents were given pamphlets outlining the fire safety message.
