Gunnedah Pony Club hosted its annual Greg Swain Showjumping Day and Blanch Trophy Day over the weekend.

There were more than 30 riders on the Saturday competing in the showjumping and dressage, with a host of Gunnedah riders successful across both disciplines.
Jumping highest point score: A grade associate – Lauren Hill – Gunnedah; B grade associate – April Squire – Narrabri; C grade – Megan Schmitt – Gunnedah; D grade – Ruby Henry – Gunnedah; E grade – Dakota Durrant – Gunnedah.
Dressage champions: Junior Champion under 13 – Harriet King – Gunnedah; Senior Champion 13 years and under 17 – Phillipe Altman – Gunnedah; Associate Champion - Lauren Hill – Gunnedah.
On Sunday 71 riders from over six clubs across the zone survived the heat and competed.
The day consisted of five hack events in the morning and seven fun-filled sporting events in the afternoon.
The following Gunnedah riders were successful enough to gain the Highest Point Score Champions: Under 7 girls – Sonia Sharp; 7 and under 9 boy – Beau Craig; 9 and under 11 girls – Claudia McConaughey; 11 and 13 girls – Harriet King; 13 and 15 boys – Will Patterson.
“We would like to thank all our judges on both days who generously gave up their time,” Gunnedah Pony Club secretary Di Hobden said.
“We would also like to thank all our wonderful parents who helped out tirelessly over the weekend from Friday setup to Sunday pack up.
“It was such a huge weekend and would not have happened without the hard work and dedication by our pony club parents,” Ms Hobden said.
Neighbouring clubs from around the region made the journey to Gunnedah.
“We’d like to thank the Tamworth, Narrabri, Boggabri, Manilla, Quirindi, Coonabarabran and Wee Waa clubs who all made the effort to attend our big weekend.”
