The cover photo on the Wheels magazine for this current issue was taken at Mullaley.
The feature article, written in the spirit of the classic motoring journalist style, tells of the hospitality of the Mullaley village people and property owner on whose nice patch of the dirt the spectacular photos featured were taken.
However, Gunnedah Council please take note and take a read of the article because these intrepid rev heads who test drove one of the last Australian-made muscle cars couldn’t continue driving up the Grain Valley Road and had to turn back in order to save the car.
Our Mullaley community regularly complain about the horrendous state of the gravel surface of the Grain Valley Road – plus the NVI had published photos in the past year showing an upturned vehicle having lost control in the loose gravel. No tar sealing is planned.
The road is given an occasional grade which without the proper follow up of a watering truck and roller, the finish is lucky to last a couple of days before reverting to the tyre gouging, rutted, trap for young players that usually awaits travellers on the road.
Come on Gunnedah Council, step up, seek the grants, knock on the doors and get this vital road which has already been identified as a road of national significance upgraded to tar sealed and safe to travel.
