New owners of the property, Chrys and Maria Kelly from Gunnedah, are extremely pleased with the response with around 1400 people attending.
Up to 600 caravans from every state in Australia attended the event which is held between Tambar Springs and Coolah, where they listen to country music under the gum trees in a bush setting.
Many of them camp for two weeks.
A campfire stage presented a combination of professional and ‘walk up’ artists every night from Wednesday through to Sunday, while a second stage provides non-stop professional entertainment on Friday afternoon and all day Easter Saturday and Sunday, with great country music.
Bush poets kicked off the morning over the weekend after a hearty cooked breakfast.
“As far as the festival was concerned, it was very successful and we are very pleased with the way things came together,” property owner and organiser Chrys Kelly said.
“The campers were pleased with the parking, the artists and the venue being down in the campground.”
“They thanked us very much and said what a good time they had and that they will be back. It’s been very positive for us being our first time,” Mr Kelly said.
The festival, which took a one year hiatus after the property was put on the market and sold, will be back next year with an impressive line-up of new artists, including renowned singer Tania Kernaghan.
“We’ll most definately be back,” Chrys said.
“It will be a couple of weeks later but all the artists and poets have already been booked for next year.”
Mr Kelly said the food vendors, which were all local except the ice-cream van, were pleased with the response and the Tambar Springs Hotel did a massive trade serving up over 800 extra meals during the two-week period.
