The Hawks intend to enter a first and reserve grade team for the 2016 season as per the league requirements.
They finished in fifth place on the top grade leaderboard last year and just missed out on finals berth.
Coach Gary Sams described it as a “very enjoyable” season of competitive football.
“The pressure wasn’t there,” he said.
“We don’t need those stress levels.”
In previous years the club played in the Northern Inland Premier League (NIPL) which covers the whole of the North West, New England region.
But despite their best efforts, found little success.

So the move to the Tamworth competition has been seen as an overall positive one.
“It’s still a high standard of competition,” Sam said.
“There are players coming back from the NIPL to join it.”
The club plays in the Tamworth competition on a home and away basis, meaning some games are able to played in Gunnedah.
The Hawks are on the lookout for new players to join their ranks and will start training in the coming week.
They are also open to applications for coaches in both first and reserve grade.
In the interim, the club will hold its annual general meeting on Monday, February 29, from 6.30pm at the Gunnedah Hotel.
There they will be calling for not only coaching positions but also committee roles.
New club members and players are also welcome to attend. For more information contact Gary on (02) 6742 2950 or treasurer Bianca Small on 0487 459 628.
