I was both honoured and humbled to have taken part in the ceremony at Gunnedah on November 11.
Our Rotary exchange is to five different cities/towns in this Rotary district of NSW – Tamworth, Narrabri, Walcha, Wingham and Port Macquarie.
We started on November 9 and return home on November 23.
What a fabulous way to spend two weeks meeting other Rotarians, and see and experience Australia.
Next year in the spring, a similar number of Rotarians will visit us in Canada.
I retired from active duty in 1998 after over 32
years of service in the regular force army (Armoured Corps).
Before coming over, I had asked our host Rotary District hosts in Australia for the opportunity to participate in a November 11 ceremony during our visit.
My federal government MP provided me with the wreath that I laid, and suggested that I lay the wreath on behalf of all Canadians – a further honour for me.
