Gary John Matthews appeared in Narrabri Local Court last week for the first time since he was arrested on the night of the July 21 attack.
About 11pm, an argument unfolded at an Oakham Street address between a 17-year-old boy, an 18-year-old man and Matthews.
Matthews brandished a knife and stabbed the younger teen, while the 18-year-old suffered a laceration to his hand.
The 17-year-old was rushed to hospital in a serious condition before he was airlifted to Tamworth hospital by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter; the 18-year-old was transported to Tamworth for treatment.
Matthews was arrested at the scene and charged with two counts of reckless wounding and pleaded guilty in court.
Magistrate Peter Barnett convicted Matthews and placed him on a good behaviour bond for 12 months.
Both teens have since recovered.
