Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said council had been awarded a state government Clean Up Prevention grant as part of the $465.7 million Waste Less, Recycle More initiative.
Tamworth Regional Council was awarded $20,000.
“These grants mean our local councils will be better equipped to tackle littering and illegal dumping in our region,” Mr Anderson said.
“A range of measures will be implemented including installation of prevention equipment in identified hot-spots, identifying new hotspots, increased surveillance, investigation and enforcement action, as well as educational campaigns to deter dumping.
“I congratulate these councils on applying for grants to help keep their communities clean, and encourage local councils and other community groups to continue to apply for these grants in the future.”
