Many of those involved raise funds for nominated charities including the local teaching duo who last year raised $5000 for mental health charity beyondblue.
The pair was back pulling in the cash for the charity again this year and finished in 1.26 hours – 14 minutes faster than their previous best.
“This was the second time we’ve run it, so we knew what to expect,” Nick said.
They tackled the first 6km pretty quick, before preparing themselves for the infamous Heartbreak Hill and onwards to the finish at Bondi Beach.
It was a quick turnaround for Nick who made the short trip north later that day to watch the Newcastle Knights tackle Sydney Roosters at Hunter Stadium before returning to Gunnedah that evening.
The teachers are already planning a return trip to the 2016 City2Surf where they will have a healthy start on their competition, quite literally.
Their fast time on Sunday has qualified them for entry in the higher graded, green start group next year.
Fun runs like the City2Surf are becoming increasingly popular in the community and regularly attract competitors of all ages and abilities.
More variations have also gained traction like mud run obstacle races, colour runs, even believe it or not, zombie fun runs.
