After a torrid start to their 2015 campaign, the Bulldogs have two wins from as many matches and look to be finally finding their feet.
Hilton said it was just rewards for a side growing in confidence and ability.
“We scored seven or eight tries back to back,” Hilton said of the weekend try feast.
“For about 20 minutes, we were just scoring tries.”
In the thick of it was four-try maestro, Kih McDonald.
Not even a lengthy intermission while a Diggers player was treated for a suspected broken leg, could shake the Bulldogs from their Saturday night groove at Scully Park.
It was a huge turnaround for the side which last encounter, handed Diggers their maiden first grade win in Group 4.
It also consolidated their gutsy, two-point away win over Narrabri the week prior.
Hilton said it was a basic plan and they executed it beautifully.
“We held on to the footy, completed our sets and stuck to what we’ve been trying to do,” he said.
Add to that a backline with immense ability and the possibilities are limitless, the coach said.
“The backline we’ve got is the best I’ve seen in a long while,” he said.
“There is a lot of speed, every player has an X-factor.”
Gunnedah centre and player’s player Dan Rolinson was at his attacking best and scored two tries.
“Every time he touched the ball he looked dangerous,” the coach said.
Hilton, who made a return to field after almost two months on the sideline with injury, also scored a double, as did Shannon Swan.
Another on song was Bulldog Dan Head who received the referee’s three points.
The consecutive wins are good signs for the Bulldogs particularly with a much-anticipated Kitchener Park clash against Wests in two weeks time. The match also features as the club’s ladies day after this weekend’s round bye.
“I think the confidence is sky high after those wins,” Hilton said.
Better still, the side is also hoping to welcome back more Bulldogs into the fold after long lay-offs due to injury.
“As long as we can keep going forward, keep building, anything can happen,” he said.
