Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson and the Coalition made a promise of a $2 million upgrade for the hospital in December last year ahead of this year’s state election.
Mr Anderson said he was “disappointed” to learn the $2 million had not been included in the Budget.
“It’s not in this year’s Budget, but it is listed in forward estimates,” Mr Anderson said.
“It strengthens my resolve to get it moving as fast as possible.”
He said he would approach the Health Minister to try to get the project started as soon as possible.
Listed in today’s Budget was an upgrade for Gunnedah’s police station, but with just $200,000 allocated this year towards the $5.5 million total.
Mr Anderson said that money would be used for planning for the upgrade.
More than $64 million was listed in the 2015-16 Budget as going towards building or refurbishing stations in Deniliquin, Gunnedah, Bay and Basin, Liverpool, Moss Vale, Tweed Heads, Lake Macquarie, Riverstone and Walgett.
A figure of $3 million was listed for work for the second rail overpass, with no total figure for the project.
Mr Anderson said the work would need to go to tender, so no total could be given. He said the money would keep the project rolling.
The funding is listed under the $76 million Bridges for the Bush Program.
The Budget also included money for road maintenance in the shire, and Mr Anderson said more details would become available, including funding for community transport in the area.
