The amateur won his 72kg bout with Ryan Farrier from Westside.
It was a tough, even fight with neither boxer willing to give an inch.
As his opponent started to tire in the third and final round, O’Hara increased the intensity to the balance in his favour.
In addition to his win, O’Hara was awarded the Toughman of the Night trophy by local trainer Spike Syphers.
He dedicated the award to his dearly missed mate and training partner for who the tournament was named after, Daniel Durham.
“Dan and I were very close,” O’Hara said on accepting the trophy.
“We were training and sparring partners.
“He is sorely missed by us all.
“Thanks everyone for coming down.”
Gunnedah’s Rod Lawler also won his bout for Black and Blue Boxing.
Lawler beat Jamie Corell from Tamworth in the 86kg bout despite both fighters battling heavy fatigue in last round.
Stewart Macbeth was another local boxer to find success in the amateurs, when he beat Charles Boney from Inverell.
Mandy Ryan fought a strong exhibition bout against Clarissa Edwards from Armidale.
Not so fortunate was Narrabri-based Gunnedah gym fighter, Shawn Hanslow, who lost his 68kg contest to Blake Krfaus from Inverell.
“It was a bit exciting,” Hanslow said.
“But I need to work on my jab more.”
It was his first official amateur bout after three earlier exhibition bouts in Dubbo.
The 15-year-old lives and schools in Narrabri but travels regularly to training in Gunnedah with the help of his trainers.
With more experience under his belt, Hanslow hopes to improve in his boxing for future bouts.
Gunnedah’s Wade Ryan lost his professional bout in unanimous decision later that night to Jamie Weetch from Perth.
The English-born Weetch was strong throughout all eight rounds and dominated from the outset.
