Gunnedah’s 63rd Annual Eisteddfod began on Thursday with a big musical start at St Xavier’s School Hall.

The eisteddfod will continue over the next two days, featuring everything from Golden Oldies sections to poetry reading and piano solos.
The eisteddfod is being held at a number of venues, with the majority of sections held at St Xavier’s Hall.
First item in the eisteddfod this morning was the Instrumental Ensemble for Primary, featuring two items from Carinya Christian School.
This was followed by the Small School Choir section with performances by Mullaley Public School and GS Kidd Memorial School.
The musical entertainment continued with the Primary Musical Theme section, and a variety of other primary school sections.
The musical adjudicator is Elizabeth Vierboom from the Sydney Conservatorium High School.
Also being held today was the Golden Oldies Entertainment Group sections and the poetry reading.
These items were held at Lundie House, with Lizzie Blake as a guest adjudicator.
The eisteddfod continues until Saturday.
No dance sections are included in the eisteddfod this year.
