Has anyone else had a beloved small pet mauled or killed lately?
If so it was probably done by the same two dogs who ripped the throat out of our elderly ragdoll cat who was asleep on our front verandah last night.
The dogs are a grey-coloured male great dane or part-great dane who is in cahoots with a medium-sized cream coloured bitch.
These dogs are regularly let out to roam the streets and cause mayhem.
If anyone’s dogs have been barking or getting stirred up it is probably because you have had a visit from these dogs. These dogs pull out garbage, do their business on your lawns, pee on your garage doors, car doors and tyres and hunt for anything smaller than them eg small dogs, cats etc.
They corner then kill their prey and are becoming dangerous and need to be stopped before a child or another person becomes injured.
The owners need to take ownership of the problem they have created by allowing their dogs to roam the streets out of control and start locking up the dogs like all responsible owners do.
These are not the only dogs allowed by owners to roam free, but these two dogs are becoming more dangerous and need to be stopped now before they join forces with other dogs let loose of a night and the problem escalates.
Once dogs learn to hunt and kill in that manner, the behaviour escalates and the dogs become more confident and adventurous. They may be hunting small dogs and cats now, but that can easily escalate to hunting small children, especially if the child is running.
Our whole family is very upset by the loss and especially the traumatic way our beloved pet was killed, and we do not want anyone else to have the same experience.
These dog owners know who they are, they know their dogs are roaming the streets every night and even during the day.
They live on a street which is a direct route for children walking to school, please take ownership of the problem and become a responsible dog owner. Lock up your dogs, train them, do not let them become killing machines.
