A police spokesman said four separate incidents were in the confines of the showground, with more occurring in surrounding streets.
“Unfortunately these incidents coincided with the Gunnedah Show,” the police spokesman said.
“The common denominator is unlocked vehicles in all of these cases.
“Obviously people are trusting when they are at these events, but these thieves are opportunistic.”
Police said thieves were taking “whatever they can carry”, including mobile phones and wallets.
“On three of these thefts wallets were recovered, however the money and cards were missing,” the police spokesman said.
Police are reminding all residents and visitors to remain vigilant with locking their vehicles.
