I agree with council’s decision to clean up the Lawn Cemetery and have always been aware of the cemetery’s guidelines regarding floral tributes.
My family tries to keep the resting places of our loved ones clean and tidy. About once a week, we tend six graves, cleaning the headstones and ensuring that the artificial flowers are secured in the allocated holes.
If you visited the cemetery after a storm or strong winds, you would see the artificial flowers, broken vases, glass jars and ornaments strewn across the lawn.
The groundsmen’s job must be hindered by having to pick up all this rubbish before they can start trimming the edges and mowing the lawn.
We should all try to keep the Lawn Cemetery neat and tidy so it remains the respectful and serene place it should be.
