The group will appear on April 24 from 10.30am and again at 7.30pm.
Sing Australia groups across the nation set aside a special day each year, when all the groups in the network perform for their community.
“Sing Australia means a lot to the members,” Gunnedah group leader Philip Gurewitz said.
“It has provided great friendships and because of the fun and inclusive approach it has been a big help to many people who have had significant pressures in their life.
“This is a special day for us to celebrate our organisation of which we are proud.”
Sing Australia has produced many major events and concerts since its inception on April 12, 1985, but these are now entirely associated with the network of singing groups.
In the earlier years, it was involved in producing corporate events, major outdoor concerts and the event management of the Australia Day celebrations in the ACT.
In more recent times, Sing Australia has produced major national gatherings and regional gatherings for the Sing Australia network.
Sing Australia also organises tours both overseas and throughout Australia for members of its singing groups. To date there have been 25 overseas trips, including seven consecutive tours to Turkey to sing at the Gallipoli commemorations on Anzac Day from 2005 to 2011.
There are 135 groups from across all states and terrorities of Australia, with about 4700 members.
The aim is to encourage more Australians to sing and so the members come from all walks of life, demographics and the repertoire covers a wide range of music.
In any one year, the Sing Australia groups perform at many events in the community.
Mr Gurewitz said the Gunnedah group’s favourite event was singing to and entertaining the residents of the local nursing homes.
The Gunnedah group meets weekly on Wednesdays at 5pm in the Dignam Room of the Sisters of Mercy Convent, on the corner of Bloomfield and Henry streets. All are welcome.
