The Gunnedah runner won not only the elite women’s division at last weekend’s Titan Macquarie Mud Run in Dubbo but was the first woman past the post from any division.
Fisher conquered the 10km mud and obstacle course in a blistering one hour, 12 minutes and was only six minutes off the pace from overall first place.
She was one of a 30-strong contingent from Gunnedah’s Beetles Bootcamp challenging themselves at the increasingly popular endurance events.
Beetles instructor Tania Ruttley said given Fisher’s prior experience at similar races, she encouraged her to enter the elite category at Dubbo.
“She had run Spartan races before and was top five in her age,” Ruttley said.
The run course passed through the Macquarie River three times, featured underground tunnels, barbed wire and rope climb down a rock wall.
More than a dozen baby Beetles also took part in the kids event, with $5 from every junior entry donated to a children’s charity.
Proceeds from senior entries were forwarded to Dubbo council to assist with the installation of community fitness equipment in local parks.
The mud run was a first for many Beetles competitors and personal milestone for a number more.
“A lot of them had never done a mud run before,” Ruttley said.
“A few had even given up the cigarettes for it.
“It was quite a big weekend but we all thoroughly enjoyed it.”
