NSW Fire and Rescue urges Gunnedah residents to use daylight saving ending as a reminder to change their smoke alarm batteries.
Daylight Saving will begin again on the first Sunday in October.
The same period of daylight saving is observed in Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory.
Daylight saving is not observed in Queensland, Western Australia or the Northern Territory.
Daylight saving first operated nationally during World War I from January 1, 1917 to March 25, 1917 and during World War II for three summers, beginning on 1 January 1942.
