The Gunnedah Chamber of Commerce said more than $16,000 worth of value was loaded onto the gift cards bought during December.
“It was a win for local retailers as the majority of this money was spent by local employers using the card as a great method of keeping their dollars in town,” a Chamber of Commerce spokesperson said.
The range of stores includes butchers, greengrocer, newsagent, gym, Gunnedah Shire Council, dress shops, florists and local locksmith.
The cards can be loaded from $1 to $5000, and have a 12-month lifetime after activation.
The gift card has its own Facebook page – facebook.com/GunnedahGiftCard
The Chamber of Commerce has also planned a number of functions for early 2015.
