Members of the United Hospital Auxiliaries of NSW Gunnedah branch helped raise money through raffles and a fashion parade earlier this year to make the new room possible.
Between $2500-$3000 was spent on paint, carpet, chairs, blinds and a coffee table for the hospital room which will allow a quiet space for patients to visit and be used for consultations with medical staff and patients, carers and families.
The auxilary is now making preparations for next year’s fund-raising.
High on the hospital wishlist is an instrument tower for the theatre and an audioscope for children’s hearing.
The group has been in operation since the 1940s-1950’s and has raised between $60-70,000 over the years.
