In Bloomfield Street, Betty Condran continues to add “just one more touch” to her busy Christmas display featuring a nativity scene and a host of soft toys.
“It’s my last time, so I thought I would go out with a bang,” Mrs Condran says, climbing over the complicated arrangement of wires and cords.
“We painted a lot of this ourselves, but my husband has passed away and it is a lot of work each year.”
Her neighbours are also showing their festive spirit with their own arrangements of lights.
On the “Santa Street” end of South Street, Teena Sutcliffe is also making adjustments.
Her yard is one of three adjoining houses lit up with enough lights to create a glow on the horizon.
The Sutcliffe house includes a singing Santa in laser lights and a Christmas tree.
Cars are cruising slowly down Kamilaroi Road, where many of the residents have put their own special stamp on Christmas.
From Santa losing his seat on a pushbike and ploughing headfirst into a tree to jolly snowmen, trains and elegant reindeer, the street has embraced the festive season.
The Christmas Lights Competition has been held again this year, and Gunnedah Shire Council will announce the winners on Thursday.
