Think your young one had a story to tell from the school holidays just gone? Well this might just top it.
It was a fishing expedition like no other for Gunnedah’s Keighan Woodhead and friends Lewis Muller and Joel Martin and younger brother at Lake Keepit.
All were returning from a non-eventful, self-proclaimed fishing charter when they were jolted to a holt to what they thought was a snag.
“We thought it was a snag, we got it up to the surface and bang,” their Facebook post stated.
As they wrestled with the “reef” the line gave movement and the boys realised they were onto something but had no idea what they were in for.
As the monster head bubbled to the surface the boys were overwhelmed with the size of the catch.
It took the three young gents to pull him into the boat and they said it almost tipped them over – the catch was at least 100cm and its tail was hanging over the measuring board.
“We grabbed the net and it wouldn’t even fit in there,” the Facebook post continued.
“I had to get its tail and support it so we could get it in the boat! And boy oh boy I’ve never seen a bunch of kids more pumped up.”
