Gunnedah temperatures are predicted to be in the low 30 degrees over the weekend.
Residents can cool off in the smaller covered pool, but it will be another four weeks until both the 50m pool and the toddler pool open.
“The Gunnedah War Memorial Pool 2014 summer season has been scheduled to commence Saturday, November 1 with the water temperature historically being too cool for general swimmers at any earlier date,” a spokeswoman for Gunnedah Shire Council said.
“Should Gunnedah experience unseasonably hot temperatures in the lead-up to the planned opening, Gunnedah Shire Council will seek to open the 50m pool at an earlier date to ensure the comfort of the community.”
The South and West Tamworth War Memorial Swimming Pool opened on September 27.
The Narrabri, Wee Waa and Boggabri town pools will open this Saturday, October 4, and the Tamworth Olympic Swimming Pool, Barraba, Kootingal, Manilla and Nundle pools will open on October 8.
The council spokeswoman said the Gunnedah pool summer season would start on November 1 and operate until March 31, 2015, with the pool open Monday to Saturday from 5.30am to 8pm, and on Sundays from 9am to 8pm.
