The Wombats secured a well-deserved win in last night’s Junior Futsal Grand Final.
Wombats beat Racoons by a convincing margin to shore up this season’s Division 1, 8-12 years at the Gunnedah PCYC.
Hayden Baker was named top Wombat after scoring a whopping 10 goals for his troops.
Young Baker was invaluable to the side’s success on Wednesday night one of the best all year, despite only being able to play every two weeks during the competition.
Racoons gave their all in the final but they were no match for the Wombats’ superior goal-scoring ability.
Particularly impressive was Wombats’ two leading girls in Matilda Betts and Steph Eveleigh.
“Some might think with two girls in the team, the side might be a bit weaker,” Futsal co-ordinator Tracey Keeler said at the post-match presentation.
“But they get in there and play just as hard as the boys.”
