North Armidale’s 2-0 win will stand, that’s what a Northern Inland Football (NIF) “special board meeting” concluded when it convened on Monday night after a wild weekend of finals football around the region.
Armidale led 2-0 late in the second half against Tamworth FC when a brawl erupted between the two clubs.
The match was subsequently abandoned due to the incident.
NIF general manager Steve Griffith on Tuesday confirmed no replay of the match or further action will be taken on the outcome of the game.
“There was only nine minutes remaining,” he said.
“We didn’t feel anything more could be achieved by replaying the game.
“If anything it could potentially be counter-productive.”
However “a number of players” will likely face sanctions from their involvement in the melee when a judiciary hearing convenes later this week on the matter.
As a result North Armidale will play Gunnedah United in Saturday’s reserve grade semi-final at Scully Park at 12.30pm.
