It was near perfection from the Gunnedah gymnastics teams at the NSW State Clubs Championships in Sydney earlier this month.
Three local teams of Levels 1-3 gymnasts competed at the state-wide competition held at the Sydney Gymnastics and Aqautic Centre, recording solid results all-round.
The Level 3 team of Georgia Tibbs, Yasmin Thomas, Simone White, Emmy Barr and Bella Barr won gold in vault, beam and floor, backed by silver in bars to secure a well-earnt overall gold medal.
The Level 1 team of Stella Robertson, Jorgi Owers, Meghan Andren, Dakota Milne and Talara Harris won gold in floor and were medallists in the remaining disciplines for their overall gold medal standing also.
Gunnedah’s Level 2 team of Hannah Renton, Eliza Renton, Lucy Robertson, Chelsea Palmer and Lilly Tunningley were unlucky to miss out on the top overall position after winning gold in beam and floor. But the girls did enough to win the overall silver medal for their efforts.
The gymnasts train hard all year round but ramped up proceedings in the six weeks leading up to the competition for an intense and specific training program.
The strong results from each of the five-member teams who are aged 7-11 years, indicate the extra training paid off with all girls thoroughly deserving of their top rankings.
