Jack and Jill’s Cafe are the new A grade winter touch football champions after blitzing Shake and Bake 7-1 in the Monday night grand final.
Jimmy Pascoe was named the men’s player of the final and Jess Keynes, the best female player in the match.
The winner’s couldn’t be split in the A grade’s men’s player of the year stakes with Scott Cannon and Lachlan Fleming sharing the award honours. The leading female player was Beck Henderson.
In other divisions, B grade champions Goodwin Kenny got home in a narrow 5-4 win against Brad Smith Master Builder.
Keegan Loughrey was voted the men’s best player in the decider and Reanna Hill in the women.
Jackson Ludlow and Laura Norman were named as the competition’s best, picking up the player of the year awards.
In C grade EDI Downer defeated Foreigners 4-3 after a drop-off to determine the winner.
Cameron Maxwell was strong for EDI in the final and voted the best of the men, while Maddy Buhagiar was the pick of the women’s players.
Kris Lodge and Casey Hatch were presented with player of the year prizes.
The D grade champions Peel Valley Phantoms also found it tough in the final but did enough to win 4-3 against Galaxy Monstars.
Garren Cruickshank was in great form to be named men’s player of the final while Emma Kennedy had a similarly strong match to be voted the best of the women.
Simon Elsley and Peta Devine were D grade’s player of the year.
The summer touch football competition kicks off with the men’s and women’s divisions on Monday, October 20 and mixed division on Wednesday, October 22.
The junior and peewee touch competition starts on Monday, October 6 and October 8 respectively, with registration to be held at Longmuir Playing Fields on Thursday, September 18 from 4.30-5.30pm.
Summer registrations can be lodged online at gunnedahtouch.sportingpulse.net however there will be two registration nights to be held at the Imperial Hotel on September 18 and 25 from 6-7.30pm.
