The Dorothea Mackellar Poetry Festival - which included an open day at Gunnedah Museum and a Zephyr Quartet performance on Saturday - will have its biggest day yet on Friday.
The poetry award winners will be announced on Friday morning, followed by a party in the street with live musicians and a free sausage sizzle.
The road in front of the Civic will be closed off between 12 noon and 3pm for the festivities.
There will be a musical performance from The String Contingent and Lucy Wise commissioned by Gunnedah Conservatorium through funding from Arts NSW.
The String Contingent has written songs based on some winning pieces from previous years of the Dorothea Mackellar Poetry Awards.
The group composes and performs music drawing from Celtic, classical, jazz and bluegrass traditions.
