The rain might have washed out last Sunday’s Gunnedah and District Junior Soccer Club carnival, but earlier this month local teams were topping the standings at Narrabri.
The Gunnedah club fielded a whopping 16 teams at the Narrabri six-a-side competition, many of which went on to win their division.
Among the champion Gunnedah teams was Curlewis Pies in the 7 years age group, followed in second place by clubmates Brad McIvor Air Conditioning (Gunnedah).
Pollock Renovators (Gunnedah) were the best in the 8 years division, with Coona Galaxy in second.
Also to win were Moores Electrical, Gunnedah Mono and Ultra Fleet in the 9, 10 and 11 years divisions respectively for Gunnedah.
Rettie & Vickery was a close runner-up behind home-town Narrabri in 12 years, while Middlebrook Air (Gunnedah) was also a runner-up in the 14 years to the Moree winners.
Parkview Hotel (Gunnedah) was too good in the 13 years after edging out Coona Galaxy for the title.
Teams will be back on deck for the Gunnedah carnival which has been rescheduled for August 31.
