THE Hunter Regional Solo and Ensemble Championships were held on the weekend at the Rathmines Music Centre on the edge of Lake Macquarie, with a team of Gunnedah band members competing for prestigious trophies.

Youngster Sebastian Rowe took out the under 12 years brass champion and the under 10 slow melody any instrument, while Annerley Fitzsimmons received first place in the under 15 years cornet, under 19 years cornets and trumpets and was named the under 15 brass champion. Annerley also placed third in the under 15 years slow melody cornets and second in the under 19 years slow melody cornets and trumpets.
Under 19 brass champion went to Amy Alker, who was also awarded the under 19 perpetual trophy for slow ballad. Amy placed first in the under 19 slow melody other brass instruments and first in the under 19 years baritones and euphoniums.
