Deputy Mayor Gae Swain was invited as guest speaker and spoke of her trip to India, where she and her husband Geoff helped vaccinate for polio.
Cr Swain told the members she couldn’t get over the devastation of the country and the conditions people had to survive in, but was grateful to be able to participate in a worthwhile program.
“Polio is not a word – it’s an action and whatever we face in our lives, we can change and make better – one step at a time,” Cr Swain said.
Members found Cr Swain’s account of her trip to India interesting and enlightening.
The club’s birthday cake was baked and donated by Joy Pearson, with two of the club’s longest serving members, Gwen Campbell and Judy Keating, honoured to cut the cake.
Jo Cunningham was awarded for the best mask, with her colourful combination of mask and tinsel wig.
The raffle prizes were won by Barbara Hyslop, Elaine Conlon and Ruth White.
Joelze Man was thanked for all the wonderful table decorations.
Day VIEW Club members lost a good friend this month, with Elaine Gardner sadly passing away.
Program officer June Jackson is currently in Tamworth Hospital and club members wish her well.
Crystal Neal entertained members with guitar and vocals.
