Local investigators executed a search warrant at a home in Coromandel Street, Tamworth and charged a man with several offences.
Police allegedly located a revolver, ammunition and a silencer.
Officers assisted by a drug dog also allegedly located six vials of anabolic steroids, cannabis, a quantity of white powder and sachets of crystals that were removed for forensic analysis.
About 3.40pm on Friday police located and arrested a 49-year-old man without incident.
He was taken back to Tamworth Police Station where he was charged with eight offences including possess unauthorised pistol, possess unregistered firearm, possess or use prohibited weapon and supply prohibited drug.
The man was refused bail and appeared at Tamworth Court.
