Gunnedah girl Kristen Dunn has taken over the reins for this year’s event and said the annual food festival was  well on track for another great event.

“All the traditional stalls will be there including the popular cheesecake, gnocchi, bread and pork vendors,” she said.

“We are also working on a few new vendors, with a focus on local businesses.”

Now in its sixth year, Annual Porchetta Day has become a regular event on many people’s calendars. It has become known  as a festival for all ages and celebrates the fine produce of the Namoi Valley and the town’s migrant heritage. 

“The day promotes the region so well and is a great way to attract new people to Gunnedah.”

Annual Porchetta Day continues to be family focused and will include a range of popular performers from last year’s event.

The 2013 event was hugely successful with around 5500 people flocking through the gates. The large crowd enjoyed dishes such as home-made gnocchi, lasagne, bruschetta, pork rolls, Italian sausages, pizza, gelato, pasta and desserts. Italian wine and beer also flowed, as temperatures reached a perfect 22 degrees Celsius. 

Organisers are hoping to build on the success of past years and make Annual Porchetta Day 2014 the best one yet.
