Gunnedah came alive as picnic rugs and people scattered the grass at the Gunnedah Kennel Club grounds.
Emerging Brisbane act, Rohan, set the tone for the first sessions, with old-school blues and acoustics captivating the crowd.
Organisers Kendal Hennessy and Amanda Trieger hailed the first event a huge success, with people travelling from Narrabri, Tamworth and Armidale to taste what was on offer.
“The feedback we have received from the first event is amazing, we are overwhelmed by the positive response,” Kendal said.
“People have been writing feedback on our Facebook page which is fantastic to see.”
Kendal and Amanda said the sessions were designed to be a place to indulge all the senses, with handmade arts and crafts, local food and produce, and children’s activities marked down for each event.
With another 10 food and market stalls confirmed for the August sessions and an extra 15 application forms handed out on the day, the event is only set to grow.
“We are very excited for next month,” Kendal said.
“Food was a great hit on Sunday with the coffee van, Crayv Gourmet Health Food Van and Grumpys Ginger Beer all absolute winners.
“So to have more booked in for next month already is great.”
The jumping castle and circus school were also popular with the children.
Every month the sessions will support a different local not-for-profit organisation, with Mary Ranken Childcare Centre the beneficiary of the first event.
Next month’s event will support the NSW Fire and Rescue Gunnedah and their fundraising efforts towards the 2015 Firefighting Championships.
Transvaal Diamond Syndicate are the featuring band for the next event on August 10 and are sure to entertain with some of “Australia’s finest foot-stomping swamp and blues rock”.
Casual stall bookings are taken the Monday before each market by phoning 0427 422 682 or 0407 828 899.
