The exhibition, which focused on attracting first time exhibitors as well as more established artists, saw 30 budding artists produce 109 artworks from a variety of mediums to fill the walls of the gallery.
The gallery successfully sold 19 pieces on the night, from photography, paintings, and collectors pens, to pottery, jewellery and glassware.
Featuring artists included local identities, Helen Stanley, Maree Kelly, Andrea Bruno and Shirley Urquhart, as well as first time exhibitors Geoff Dawson (Gunnedah) with his pottery works, Kristie Farquhar (Gunnedah) and Leah Dryden, of Kootingal.
A selection of artists from further afield exhibited, with Jean Davies, of Murrurrundi, who was the judge at last year’s Art Prize Exhibition at the Gunnedah Show showcasing her work, Nancy Hunt from Narrabri and well-known artist Yvette Hugill returing to Gunnedah for the show.
“It was wonderful to see some established artists contribute to the exhibition including Yvette Hugill who came back from Wingham and entered three of her paintings,” Work of Art Community Gallery Director Chris Burgess said.
“The exhibition also acted as a great tool for first time exhibitors to showcase their talents, where otherwise they may not receive the opportunity.
“People who came on the night said the gallery was fresh and vibrant and they were amazed
at the talent from local artists.”
Local artist Helen Stanley is conducting ongoing freestyle workshops at the gallery, and the exhibition also displayed a range of works from the students involved.
The exhibition will be open until April 22.
The gallery is now focusing on it’s Winter Exhibition, with an opening on July 19 to showcase international paintings from artists across the world, including America, England, Scotland and Ireland.
In the lead up to the Winter Exhibition, renowned oil painting artist Kasey Sealey will return to the gallery to conduct more workshops on July 11, 12, and 13. Information and registration available at the gallery.
