Gunnedah is regarded as the Koala Capital of the World and rightly so as this series of pics taken by renowned photographer Paul Mathews illustrates.

Paul caught this furry little critter crossing Marquis Street at the High School just before 3pm last week and as usual, this bloke was a crowd - and traffic - stopper.
In the first photo he steps off the footpath and council employee Roger Bagster was on hand to make sure traffic gave him the right of way.
In the next frame he stops for a quick game of "Teapots" with local real estate agent Richard Gallen and then he is on his way again.
As Paul said, "You gotta love this town. The people always stop and help one of our little mates cross a road. It happens all the time."
