Bowlers from a wide area competed in the two tournaments conducted at the Gunnedah Services and Bowling Club over the Australia Day long weekend
The Post Tomato Day tournament held last Saturday went right down to the wire with the scorers working overtime.
The winners were Rocky Morgan, Tom Bart-man and Noel Bartman (Gunnedah) with 3 wins 25 ends followed by Andrew Cameron, John Pryor and Sam Pryor (G) with 3 wins 24 ends, and in third place, G. Daniels, B. Madden and D. Warroll (Baradine) 3 wins 22 ends, fourth place went to J. Pizzutti, P. McQueen and PD Elboux (Tamworth) with 3 wins 21 ends and in fifth place, L. Gilbert, F. Elder and S. Kelly (Narrabri) with 2 wins 23 ends.
On Sunday the Taylor Automotive - Australia Day triples tournament attracted a good field and the competition was again very close.
The winners on the day were Victor Murray, Andrew Kennedy and Jim Lyall (Walgett) with 3 wins 24 ends from Noel Bartman, Tom Bartman and Chris Ley with 3 wins 22 ends and T. Cummins, R. Cummins and D. Fan in third place with 2½ wins 23 ends and a margin of 30.
The round winners were K. Trow, L. Assef and M. Golledge in the first round winning 19-7 and 9 ends, the second round went to Paul Lodge, Greg Campbell and John Pryor 26-3 and 10 ends and the third round winners were Adam King, Barry King and Jeff Palmer 27-6 and 9 ends.
Bowlers competed in a mixed event on Monday and the winners were Tom Green and Ellen May from June Morrison, Rocky Morgan and Noel Bartman.
