Mrs Wise and Mrs Pasterski were interviewed by NBN News on Saturday morning as they raised concerns about council’s logic in reviewing the centre’s current location.
“This centre was built by the community and it has served the touring public well since 1982,” Heather Pasterski said.
“It is easily accessible for big rigs with plenty of parking and beautiful surrounds – it only needs more signage to show people where it is.”
Both couples are experienced caravanners and they say that easily accessible parking for RVs is essential – and it does not need to be in the main street.
“We have had a good response to the petition so far, with very few people not wanting to sign it – we have even had travellers from out of town put their name to it,” Heather said.
“People just cannot understand council’s logic.”
Gunnedah Shire Council will present a draft report for public comment in April with councillors making a decision in May.
• Gunnedah Shire residents can sign the petition at various locations around the CBD and the villages, or offer their support by collecting a copy from Kay Pasterski (6742 2416) or Heather Wise (6742 2668).
